SRS1 – Refrigerant Scale With Weight Alarm, Convenient Features and Heavy Duty Design

Anaheim, Calif., January 5, 2016 — Fieldpiece Instruments, the industry leader in tools and test instruments for HVACR professionals, introduces the SRS1 Refrigerant Scale with Weight Alarm.  The scale delivers accurate measurements for residential or light commercial facilities and the weight alarm sets the Fieldpiece scale apart from anything else with its ease of use.  The scale measures refrigerant tanks up to 110 lbs.

Russ Harju, Product Manager Fieldpiece Instruments says, «This is the HVACR techs’ new best friend. He’ll be carrying it to most jobs. With a comfortable over-the-shoulder carrying case his hands will be free to climb a ladder or to carry other equipment to and from the job.”

The SRS1 delivers accurate measurements over the life of the product in a lightweight but heavy-duty design due to its thick aluminum walls.

The weight alarm is easy to use. Quickly set the charge/recover alarm using the big numeric key pad — no more scrolling digits. Set the tank on the platform, dial in how much you want to charge, and wait for the alarm to tell you it’s time to close the valve. You can set the alarm to sound when approaching a set weight. This is useful when you know how much you want to add or remove from the system and you want to work on other things nearby.

The SRS1 features a remote with a bright blue backlight for use in poor lighting conditions. A strong magnetic strip allows technicians to hang the remote at eye level while charging or recovering.  The heavy-duty platform is constructed of solid aluminum with ruggedized rubber bumpers.  A slotted rubber pad holds refrigerant bottles firmly in place.

The SRS1 comes standard with a 9V battery, which last an average of 80 hours. Auto-Power Off extends the life further and is easily disabled in charge/recovery mode.

The suggested trade price for the SRS1 Wireless Refrigerant Scale is $179.00 U.S.  Complete SRS1 specifications, product literature and the operator’s manual are available on the company’s website:  www.fieldpiece.com.

Fieldpiece Expanding Clamp Meter Line with Job Link™ Mobile App Compatible Meters

ANAHEIM, Calif., June 2, 2016 – Fieldpiece Instruments, the industry leader in tools and test instruments for HVACR professionals, introduces two new clamp meters that are compatible with the Job LinkTM Mobile App and deliver a comprehensive range of test and measurement data. The new meters, SC460 and SC660 are the most complete HVACR electrical testing meters Fieldpiece has ever developed.

When communicating with the Job Link Mobile App, the SC460 and SC660 provide essential data to calculate both power and system efficiency, along with transmitting measurements taken from the meter to the Job Link System where it can be used to diagnose a system, be included on customer reports, and saved for reference on future calls.

Already packed with HVACR measurements, the SC460 Essential Meter also features wireless measurements, and 3-phase rotation test with just two leads.  The SC660 Loaded Meter adds to the wireless and phase rotation with lead storage, swivel heads, and back lights, as well as dual temperature for easy Delta-T calculations, and Amps DC through the clamp.

Fieldpiece has focused on providing HVACR professionals with the most innovative tools and test instruments in the industry since it was founded over 25 years ago. As technology has become a seamless part of the techs’ work life, Fieldpiece has listened to what techs need and want.  They create and upgrade tools, like these new clamp meters, to empower the techs to do their jobs easily and effectively.

“Mobile devices are the way the world works now. Being able to record electrical measurements, calculate SEER and EER and save and print reports all from a smart phone or tablet is the most efficient use of the HVACR field service pro’s time,” said Russ Harju, product manager at Fieldpiece

Specifically, the SC460 Essential Meter measures voltage and amp draw to calculate system efficiency in the Job Link Mobile App. The dual LCD display allows the tech to see both voltage and amperage readings at the same time. In addition, it is built to withstand the rigors of HVACR with high impact plastic and a display you can read in hot or cold environments. The tech can move from a cold freezer to a hot rooftop and get accurate temperature measurements that lesser thermometers cannot measure properly.

The flagship feature-rich SC660 is a swivel-head clamp meter that will connect wirelessly to a smart phone or tablet via the Job Link Mobile App.  It measures Amps DC through the clamp, dual temperature, and 3-phase rotation with only two leads, as well as amp draw to calculate system efficiency in the Job Link Mobile App. The heavy-duty magnet allows the field service pro to hang the SC660 to any metallic surface for hands-free testing. Also, the tech can conveniently store the test leads when the job is done with the lead storage solution. Both voltage and amperage readings can be seen at the same time on the big dual LCD display.

“These new meters enable the technician to troubleshoot, measure, and perform various tests in a rugged, easy-to-use design,” stated Harju. “With wireless capability the tech can view measurements from other compatible devices live. At the end of a job they can download the measurements and create a report right from their mobile device.”

The clamp meters include test leads that are also UL compliant, and are gold-plated with removable safety caps. The new clamp meters will be available at HVACR distributors in summer 2016.  SC460 suggested trade is $299.00, and the SC660 suggested trade is $349.00.

New SVG3 Micron Vacuum Gauge Offers Reliable and Accurate Performance With Easy View Hook

“This vacuum gauge is built to last,” said Russ Harju, Fieldpiece product manager. “It has all the features technicians told us they want, and it’s rugged enough to withstand the daily use and abuse in the field. The SVG3 is super easy to use, and has more features and benefits than any other vacuum gauge on the market.”

The dual display indicates live vacuum measurement in microns of mercury on the top line, and the rate of micron change, or the alarm stopwatch on the bottom line. When the vacuum reaches the alarm set points, an audible alarm triggers, the backlight flashes and the integrated stopwatch re-starts to show technicians how long the system has maintained a deep vacuum. The technician can set both high and low alarms. The timer can display how long it took to get to the alarm and how long the vacuum has been maintained since the alarm went off.

The SVG3 also includes a Schrader depressor so the HVACR technician can connect it directly to a valve core removal tool or a service port, thereby reducing the number of potentially leaky connections. Attaching the vacuum gauge directly to the service port or a core removal tool also allows techs to get a vacuum measurement as close to the system as possible, giving a truer measurement of the vacuum level in the system.
“Deep vacuums help remove non-condensable gasses that can cause problems in a system,” said Harju.  “To do the job right you need to know how long it took to reach a set level and how long it’s been below that level. The SVG3 makes that really easy.”

The SVG3 measures from 9,999 down to 0 microns. The resolution is 1 micron of mercury.  The case is rubberized to take the use and abuse seen in the field.  A ‘T’ fitting is included for easy connections.
The SVG3 is priced competitively at $169.00 (suggested trade) and can be found at Fieldpiece distributors.

SDMN6 – Industry Exclusive Pressure Switch Tester and Dual Port Manometer

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 2, 2014– Fieldpiece Instruments, the industry leader in tools and test instruments for HVACR professionals, introduces model SDMN6 Dual Port Manometer and Pressure Switch Tester.  The SDMN6 dual-port manometer measures gas and static pressure and also accurately tests pressure switches by simulating a draft with an internal pump.
A pressure switch is a safety device that prevents the furnace from running in an unsafe manner.  The SDMN6 tests the pressure switch to determine if it is working properly, or if it is starting to fail which can cause the furnace to run in an unsafe manner.
The Dual Port Manometer has the ranges to measure gas pressure and the resolution needed to measure static pressure.  Ideal for HVACR field service technicians, the SDMN6 can determine if the gas pressure coming into the house or out of the regulator are correct. The SDMN6 measures gas pressure up to 60″ water column (WC) with a resolution of 0.1″ WC. In addition, the unit measures both positive and negative pressure, which is used for measurement on vacuum control lines. The unit will take differential pressure readings and display the difference between P1 and P2 at all times in the lower right corner of the easy-to-read LCD. Four different measurement scales can be used: inches of water column, millimeters of water column, mBar, and PSI.
The SDMN6 also has a zero adjust to zero out the meter in different ambient pressures. It has a hold button to hold the currently displayed reading. The auto-power-off function conserves battery life, but can be disabled if desired.
In the static pressure mode, the unit can measure up to 2″WC with resolution to 0.010″WC, which enables a technician to measure small differences in air (or static) pressure.
“Now any technician can afford to conveniently measure static pressure because he can do it with his gas pressure measuring instrument,” says Russ Harju, product manager at Fieldpiece. “The tech also only needs to carry one pressure switch because the SMDN6 calibrates adjustable pressure switches to furnace specifications.”
The SDMN6 Dual Port Manometer and Pressure Switch Tester is priced at $279.00. The SDMN6 is housed in a rugged rubber boot, carrying case, hoses, static pressure probes, and a magnetic hanger for hands-free operation.
For more information, please visit our website at www.fieldpiece.com or call us at 714.634.1844. The SDMN6 is available at HVACR distributors.

SMAN – New Three and Four Port Digital Manifold Lines

ANAHEIM, Calif., June 16, 2014 – Fieldpiece Instruments, the industry leader in tools and test instruments for HVACR professionals, announces two new digital manifold series to check, evaluate, and charge systems using one easy-to-read instrument. The new manifolds are the SMAN300 series, which are three port manifolds, and the SMAN400 series, which are four port manifolds, and also send and receive wireless measurements. These all-new digital manifolds will be available at distributors in early July.

The new line of manifolds have a large screen that shows nine measurements at one time, so technicians no longer need to toggle through information. They are also more rugged, and give HVACR professionals the choice on whether to have a micron gauge inside the manifold, or to use a separate, standalone micron gauge.

Each manifold comes pre-programmed with 45 refrigerants and include a mini USB port to easily upload any future refrigerant updates for free.

HVACR professionals need to use a refrigerant manifold on nearly every job they work on. Digital manifolds like the Fieldpiece SMAN series make these jobs faster, easier, and more precise. The tech can easily check, evacuate, and charge systems faster with the new Fieldpiece manifolds. Techs can view their calculated target superheat while monitoring, in real-time, how their charge is affecting actual superheat and subcooling.
